that the hotel is on is filled with other mostly up market hotels, a feww lower star ratings in between, they nearly all back onto the beach. The opposite side is lined with restaurants, shops, tailors, laundries and all the usual, can't say I saw a dvd shop though. Didn't do a lot when we were there last as travelled nearly everyday into Kuta....we hadn't been back to Bali for 10 years. Now been 6 times since then. In May we visited the resort as we wanted to check out disabled facilities and as it happens we are not taking the lady I care for with us so doesn't matter but our driver pointed out many cheaper nice looking restaurants along the street...I too was worried about costs. There is also a market selling all the t-shirts etc. like Kuta Art Market at one end of the street. Kodak money changer, Circle K etc..
The hotel is beautiful and the staff lovely. I'll check out what there is for kids when I go. On the beach you can do parasailing, jetskiing etc..
