Gerhard the cabs in Bali like the one you used are all registered in a database,i left my wallet in a cab on our last day paid the driver and off he went when i went into the hotel foyer(Katika Plaza hote) i discovered that my wallet was gone.i had left it on the floor in the cab,i couldn't even remember the name of the cab company,but the concierge,made one phone call and i gave him a vague description of the colour of the cab,and within 10 minutes the driver was back with my wallet apologising profuselly because he felt guilty as he did NOT know it was there why don't you try contacting your hotel or the cab company direct,matey it sounds like a lost cause but try it you never know.
