The beach along there is sheltered behind a reef and only gets a bit rough when the weather is so bad you'll want to stay in the hotel pool anyway.
There are all sorts of hotels along the beach from the Balihai Resort (ex Holiday Inn) past the Ramada Bintang, The Santika Beach, the Dynasty and further towards Kuta (but the further you go the more exposed the shore becomes).
