Did much the same as sitas_pacar on Lembongan (back in July) and he is right on the money - a great place to visit. Was like Bali the last time I visited in 1975!!
You can book the trip across in Kuta via Perima (??). We were picked up from our hotel. Shouldn't need to book accom. We stayed at Ketuts Losmen - was OK but don't bother with the air con as it didn't work much with the power going off all the time!! Ask for Ketut Cool for your half day boat trip around the island (mobile 0812 2399 8896 great young guy with god English and happy to talk about Balinese life, culture. religion etc. He's just starting out and worth giving a bit of support.
WE then caught the market ferry across to Kusamba and then by bemo to Padang Bai for 3 days. A really nice LITTLE strip of hotels/losmens and cafes on the beach - once again like Kuta used to be. A couple of really nice little beaches within easy walking distance.
