Spent three days in Kuta before heading off for Sanur for the rest of the month, The footpaths throughout town are finished and getting around is much easier than the last visit, have read on the Forum of Kuta being busy, maybe from people who have not seen Kuta at Its busiest or perhaps it was when they visited but when I can see 100 metres of pavement in front of me with no pedestrians / shoppers and walk more or less straight across the road without a hassle I don't reckon its busy. The short stay was pleasant and busy so even after just three days we were ready for some quiet.
Sanur is even quieter, many restaurant have been empty at night and quite a few have gone to the extreme of having to turn the lights off to save power, not the best way to attract customers and probably enough to put you off going in at all, yet there are still new developments and building taking place.
On the beach there is now a rule introduced that all structures on the beach side of the footpath have to be taken down by the 15th September or the 23rd depending on who you take notice of . This will badly affect Bonsai and similar places along the beach front and its going to be pretty hot sitting there for lunch or a drink during the day. I am told that they cannot have umbrellas but like a lot of things Bali it depends on who you talk to. Many of the little shops and Warungs have already disappeared and the lucky ones have found a spot against the wall on the other side.
I mentioned in March that Mangos on the beach had been demolished, it is now rebuilt, much bigger and looks much better, they are quite lucky that they have large trees in their outside sitting area.
The Gazebo is advertising its cinema with two movies one at 5pm and one later, free for Gaz patrons. and 20,000 rps for visitors including popcorn and chips.
