To Follow Forumites,
We are writing to you for help on a matter that we believe is very dear to the hearts of all Forumites and Australians in general and now outline the details below.
The Bali Peace Park Foundation has been set up by Sandra Thompson, the mother of Clint who was one of the young Australians killed in Bali on 12 Oct, 2002. With the help of Dallas Finn, she has formed a committee in Sydney and has now got representatives in most states of Aus to support the Foundation. The aim is to raise $2,000,000 AUD which will be used to purchase the land the Sari Club once stood on and turn this land into a beautiful park for all to share. As most of you know, the land at present is totally bare and it is heartbreaking for all to see. It is a very emotional site and the request of a park has come from the Balinese people who are naturally still suffering from this tragedy.
As most of you are aware, Kuta and surrounding villages have no parks as such for children to run and play in or for people to just sit and quietly reflect. We feel this would be a wonderful tribute to lost loved ones and a way to help the healing both here and in Bali. We believe that this also could be a great fulfilment for all who are involved and especially to know that their contribution, no matter what size, helped create this park.
We have just started the fund raising campaign Aus-wide and as you can imagine we need alot of support. We are hoping that some of you will help us in which ever way possible - eg. suggesting ways in which we can reach our goal, offering to voluntarily help with the fund raising or by donating kindly to the Foundation. Should any of you have any queries or wish to register your assistance please contact us by emailing --- balipeacepark@hotmail.com . When emailing, please ensure you highlight the "subject box" with Bali Peace Park Foundation. Kindly also advise the State you live in and a telephone number so we can get the Rep for that State to contact you ASAP.
We will answer any questions you may wish to ask on the Forum.
The Foundation has been registered as a Charity Fund (No. 17983) and its Website is www.balipeacepark.com . All donations are tax deductable and donations can be directly deposited with the Commonwealth Bank BSB 062193 Account No. 10209906.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and we hope to hear from some of you soon.
