My 14 year old has always had trouble with his ears, and since I have been using the plugs while flying, he has been absolutely fine.
I even used them for my 8 month old one flight to Bali. Don't know if they made any difference, but he did not make a peep, either going over or coming back, played happily during takeoff and landing.
I have used the plugs more than 2 times per set.
