Hi, I live about 20 minutes from London. If you are staying at a hotel you will probably have access to a lock up box. Don't worry about changing money, there are loads of places although I'd recommend using bank rather than a bureau Keep the cash to a minimum but bear in mind London *is* expensive. You can eat cheaply but you need to know where (generally in the business sectors but even then they are a well kept secret).
London is know worse for pickpockets than any other major capital city, just use common sense. Of course it's easy for me to say 'cos I'm used to it.
