Good question and you almost have the right answer. Perth has long been recognised as one of the hardest airports at which to do a good landing throughout Australia, at least. This is due to the closeness of the Darling Ranges and the normally strong winds in the area. Causes a lot of turbulence, wind shear and all the rest of that stuff which makes the pilots job that much harder when trying to pull off a greaser. When they start to stuff it up at the easier airports though is when you should start to worry (just a bit).
