I'd go into Seminyak for your birthday. There are some nice flash clubs.. (no bintangs singlets, board shorts or double pluggers here) Space, Santa Fe as well as a few new ones. Gives you and your friends to glam it up a bit and have a few birthday shooters and cocktails in style.
Staying in Kuta, you can walk to Paddies, Hard Rock Cafe and Bounty Ship any night.
