Stayed at one of the rooms at the "Garden Restaurant" which was famous at the time for Magic Mushroom Pizzas. Cost was 650 Rupiah including breakfast (U.S. $ = 430 Rupiah at the time). The place no longer exists, but was located about a block from Bemo corner. No shower, but had the traditional in-room "mandi". Very few locals on the street wore Western clothing in 1975... but sarung instead. There were no bars or discos or Western dancing. Gamelan music could be heard everywhere. Cafes were experimenting at the time in creating what they called "Pseudo Western food". Most tourists stayed in Kuta, but took day trips to Ubud and other places in the vicinity, including Goa Gagah. Everyone took a tour to see Tanah Lot temple at sunset. Everyone went to the beach to watch the sunset.
