Was our very first trip to Bali. I can remember getting of the plane in Denpasar, it was so hot, none of us expected it, everbody was getting thier gear off.Needless to say back them, the airport isn't the airport they have now, the plane pulled on the tarmac, and we had to walk 5 minutes on the hot concrete to get inside. Inside airport, no a/c. Found our pick up person, drove thru the street to get to our hotel Kakitka Plaza, thought om.g. what in the hell am l doing here, but after a few days loved the place. Back then we used to drink at a place called the Sunset Bar, it has since gone, down towards Legian. In Legian the only hotel l can remember being there was the LBH, other than that is was bush..bush..bush.
Up Kuta end, if you wanted to get off the footpath you had to jump down to the road, no gutters, must say a tad dangerous walking back full of rocket fuel.
We also drank at a club across from the Sari club, had upstairs, you would order a bourbon and coke, well the glass was a high ball full of bourbon, and they would give a bottle of coke cola.... those were the days.
There used to be a little restuarant on Bemo crn called Quick Snak, l remember eating there one night coming back from Legian after eating magic mushy's.......boy were they magic.
I could rave on for hours about our first trip, and we are still going there after 23 years
