what we tend to do if going for a visit is to book the minimum content (ie aifare + 3(?) (could be four) nights accommodation (cheapest possible) and ditch the accommodation (or use the first night if we are really tired and don't want to move on our first day in.)
You can arrange to have the longest stay permitted (that is fly out at the end of your visa) but travelling for the excursion based fair. if you book just a fair it will always tend to be more expensive than a land/air package.Your fair may vary a bit depending on the dates you are travelling, ie you may cross over two fare periods.
so what you can do is to book the minimum to bali, have a 30 day ticket and travel to the other places by domestic flights, bus etc.
