As an add on to our previous comment and reply to Pre book. We do as Catsmuvva and book the first few days to get the cheap air fare. Air fare alone is often higher than with 3 or 4 nights. Crazy.
Yes pre book can get you cheaper in the listed hotels ie 3star plus but not in the smaller unlisted places. The agents don't get enough of a fee. Many, no heaps, of the smaller places are just great. Maybe no large pool etc, but usually just as clean and tidy. Expect to pay at least 1/2 of the price for listed hotels. Don't forget to bargain. Good places with a/c hot and cold are as cheap as 150 000rp a night. It is just a matter of spending a bit of time wandering about as you shop. One bonus is that the smaller places are locally owned so the profits do not go out of Bali.
