Last night on TV & in yesterday's paper was a story about the new Governor of Tasmania.I presume others saw it.
Apparently he became Governor on Oct 5th & married on Oct 6th & immediately took a 3 week (self-paid ) honeymoon trip to Vietnam.As the story went he had booked very cheap seats & cracked a wobbly at Sydney Airport when Singapore Airlines would not give him an upgrade to business class at no charge.He asked them did they know who he was? He thought as Governor of Tasmania he should be entilted to a free upgrade.Was a no go even though there were spare seats.SA said it is not their policy to upgrade unless economy class is full.He did exactly the same thing with another hissy fit for his return flight in Singapore.Wonder what his new wife thought ?
When his staff was asked for comment about the 1st incident in Sydeny they said they thought he would do the same for his return & sure enough !
According to him he said he had made some special deal with his travel agent who promised him he would take care of a free upgrade for him.
It just reminded me of the different time BTF has talk of free airline upgrades.I reckon most of the time there would be buckley's chance.
