Firstly may I start this report off with a comment to all persons unsure on whether to go to Bali at this point in time.
Go!
All our Balinese friends will tell you that the bombing trial is going on for far too long.
They watch it, they are sick of it and they would just like to see all the JI gang shot down immediately.Actually more than one has told us they would like to put them in Legian St so they can pull them apart, in the same cruel way the Balinese have had their lives ripped apart. These are harsh words indeed from our Hindu friends.
'The bomb' has destroyed the numbers of tourists to the island but it sure has not changed the attitude of the Balinese to their International guests.
They are hurting like mad from this act of destruction and anyone who has been prior, will tell you that there is now an air of desperation on some faces, resignation on others, although on others there is grim determination.
'Plait yo hair ma'am' girls don't plait any hair all day.
- day after day, the nail polish is drying ,in the bottles of the 'manicure, pedicure anycure' girls and the little pearl seller from Lombok cries when he tells you he has not had a sale for 2 weeks.
Quote- "What am to do? I can not hardly eat, my rice costs more than I make this today. No one buys from me, maybe no one in hotel. My heart is heavy with sad".
We've all heard the timeshare survey sellers are out in droves.Annoying? Desperate! They are - what else can they do?
2,000 rp for a signature and phonecall on their folder - 5,000rp for a guests trip to the hardsell salespeople at the f****** timeshare hotel itself. All these people are out of work.Who will give them work? The f****** timeshare resort that's who!, because these 'workers' don't get paid at all unless people commit to the blessed thing and go for a look.
4 million rp for a stall in the Sanur market for 2 years.
Quote - "My lease it runs out next February but no stall for me I think, I am bankroot now, maybe last week.Maybe the people will come next week.More like last year.My children do not go school anymore, I can not pay .My husband he lose his job at the hotel.Maybe we will go back to our village, but then I have my shop.It is very hard I think"
Very hard.
God bless them all
