For instance, if you stay close to Legian, we can direct you to Ketut's shop. She's a lady, well set up for some time, 40ish and charges a fair price, no bargaining; this for clothing and the usual Bali gear.

If you get into a bargaining situation somewhere, remember that the price is more than doubled. The system is full of light-hearted, smiling lying, all part of the scene. They start at 100, you start at 20 and you come together at 40 to 50. Tell them your friend bought it yesterday for 40! It works, believe me.

Also, while your skin is too white, if you're Caucasian, don't shop until you have lost your pallor as it betrays that you've just arrived and are fair game.

It'd really all just a light-hearted game.

Enjoy your Bali.
