Went there about 3 years ago, and stayed in Patong Beach, which is the main tourist area. We liked it, but if you prefer something quieter try the other beaches. If you go, DON'T miss out doing the sea canoe tour, it's the best tour I've ever done anywhere (yes, including Bali), it's magnificent.
