Thank for your replies, all of you. I realized that I was trying to base my decision on all emotion.

Therefore being paid as an engineer I am going to eliminate that touchy feely emotion and make my decision based on facts and mathematical data.

Therefore, temperature in NZ at time of travel > 20c vers temp in Bali at time of travel >25 c + temp in Tauranga as suggested = same as Whakatane (cancels) – 12 hour travel time to Bali – 1 hour car travel – 4 hours to Auckland.

With me so far?

However SARS reported in NZ = 1 SARS (confirmed). In Bali = 12 (unconfirmed). Population in NZ at time of writing, = plus / minus 4 million vers population Bali plus / minus 4 million. NZ square km is heaps compared to Bali. Hell, Bali fits into a triangle Between Whakatane, Taupo and Tauranga.

Sub total = Go to Aussy.

However Aussy population 12,000,000?
Australian sheep population per male?

Actually far more than NZ. Therefore too much competition. We can win the rugby but not the race for the ladies.

So price of Bintang in Bali $NZ = 0.75 to 1.00
Price of Bintang in NZ $NZ = 5.00

10 day holiday in Bali, average 12 Bintang per day = $120.00 minimum
10 day stay at home average 12 Bintang per day = $600.00

Conclusion:

Excluding travel time, travel expenses, lack of sheep in Bali, the cost will only be approx. $NZ 4000.00 less the difference of Bintang cost $600.00 - $120 = $480.00 or $3520.00 all up.

However if I up my Bintang consumption by another 70 to 80 a day in NZ and not go on holiday I would be financially better off to go to Bali.

So it's obvious!

See ya there in July / August
