I called into Flight Centre yesterday morning to see what kind of deal they could come up with. The girl showed very little interest and said that she couldn't do quotes for Bali on Saturdays as the place she had to call wouldn't be open. She took details of what I was after and said she'd get back to me on Monday - we'll see. She couldn't seem to get me out of there quick enough, was the feeling I got from it all.
I wandered down to Harvey World Travel and the girl spent a good half an hour or so trying to get the best possible price for me. She said if she couldn't top San Michele's quote, she'd at least match it for me - or at the very least, she could book through San Michele for the deal I was quoted - meaning I could have a local face to call in and talk to in getting everything sorted out, rather than have to do it all via phone calls only. Not only that, she confirmed that the hotel was available and that there were actually seats on the flights that we wanted.
I've always been happy with Flight Centre in the past - they did my first trip to Bali and also helped me with info on Amtrak when I went to the US a few years ago. This time I was unimpressed.
Just gotta get the OK from one more person (there's 3 of us travelling together) and I'll most likely be booking on Monday. :-)
