Correction, should read "none of the valuable local staff are working twice as hard in three times as difficult circumstances, for half pay... in order to ensure management stay employed.
I would be very interested to hear the comments of any other guests that were "in house" on the same nights as Kaz. Seems to me that it is highly likley that a lot of other poeple might have had a lot of good things to say at around the same time?
Unfortunate reality of the internet is that we can appear to be anything we wish to be, by producing a website or firing random volleys from the safety of our keyboard. Another sad reality is that ultimately, the people who most need to read and can also be most detrimentally affected by posting such as the one that started this discourse, are the Balinese people, many of whom do not surf the internet, but rather the waves.
Island economies such as Lembongan, are heavily reliant on tourism. The people that are so often the objects of Kaz's affection, are not empowered to respond, and in fact would seldom take pleasure from the overt flexing of overtly critical, muscles.
But of course, some people are empowered more by unbridled criticism, than constructive consultation. Seems to me, Kaz may be one of those people... I myself, will be going back to the Hai Tide Huts, and other similar semi remote properties that provide a source of income and development opportunities for local communities. I will try not to trip over my tongue in the fading light. I might hurt my toe...
