Hi Dragon, if you are from Singapore, you could change sing $ to rupiah either in Singapore or in Bali. Exchange rates are about the same. If you have any singapore bank card like OCBC or UOB etc with a "plus" sign at the back, you can withdraw cash from most ATM in Bali as well. That way you dont have to bring too much cash. You dont have to change to US dollar as you will find its cheaper to pay with rupiah with the current Sing/US $ exchange rate.
Do not pay the first price vendor quote you........ bargain for most of your purchases.
There are plenty of street side shops, stall, restaurant and "warungs" along the street of Tanjung Benoa.
If you are on your own, probably its a good idea to join the tour but if you travel with others, its best to hire a car for the day and get them to bring you around. IF you bargain right, you can get good driver at good price. This forum have recommended many good driver if you look thru the archieves.
