A hawker cannot rip you off, you negotiate a price, if you end up paying toooo much, that's just bad luck, or poor negotiating skills.
I reccommend not buying much on your first few days here, get the fveel of the place first.
And whwn asked "how long in Bali", always say long time, been here many times,, never say it's your first day on your first trip.
