I know what you mean about the taxis! From Puri Dewa Bharata it's one minute off Jl Legian but going into Kuta you have to do a massive detour through the rice paddies, then when you get to the end of the road there's a big No Right Turn sign, so the taxis turn left then do a huge screetching U-turn in the middle of the road ... 12000 rp to Kuta and 4000 home !!
PS can you type properly a la Mavis Beacon, or it a two fingered thing ? As I'm one of the latter group, I know how long it takes !!
