got one in Bali healthwise who is taking omeprazole?(It's a proton pump inhibitor - which means it's supposed to stop almost totally your production of stomach acid. Stomach acid is your main protection against all sorts of yuckies. I've just been to see my doctor, who's spent a great deal of time in India(adds to the credibility, ya know), and she's been stressing the need for me to be absolutely pedantic, and to abvoid all suss things such as buffets, things that can be reheated(Nasi Goreng, I supose!- my favourate meal). I was cool with all that, until I stopped and actually thought for once - it does happen occassionally! I'm doing the real luxury thing of having the expensive breakfast at the hotel. Cool hey, except it's all a buffet. I'm banking (or at least my stomach is) on the fact it'll all be freshly prepared that morning, especially as I tend to be an early bird. What experience has anyone had who's using these sort of drugs? I can't not take them - or I'd be sicker than I would with the dreaded B belly. On another interesting note, do you know why all health guides and travel books, always recommend staying away from the melons, particularly watermelon? When you think about it, it's obvious Indonesian logic. They're sold by the kilo, so the grower, to maximise his return, just makes a little hole and gets just a couple of litres of water in each melon. Every little bit helps, ya know!
