Olivia "Interesting" had good advice about "Herbal Tea"
You'll enjoy Bali better if you are in your proper state of
mind and you won't have to deal with a lot of creeps who could
get you into trouble.
Don't know where you're from but the Australian Government issues
pamphlets warning people about using certain herbs in Indonesia.
"Herb" suppliers can rip you off big time with numerous scams.
As "Interseting" suggested a long term stay in Bali with the
Indonesian Government as your host is not a good proposition!
Also bear in mind this site could be a handy one for police to find out information about incoming tourists. Even in Bali they have computers!
If you want to go on a genuine herb walk (tourist type) Ni Wayan Lilir and Made Westi have an excellent tour through the rice fields at the back of the Ubud museum. They explain about Balinese herbs
(cooking and theurapeutic types only!) as you walk through the rice fields. Wayan sells herbal teas also i.e. the type you dip a bag in boiling water and drink. She also has an excellent range of soaps and aromatic oils. My wife and I have found them to be great.
By the sound of it you should get out and about WITH YOUR MOTHER and really see Bali mainly during the daytime. You're probably better off out of Kuta.
