as I remembered my experience with becoming ill in Bali.
We were on our honeymoon in Lombok and the day before leaving for Bali we walked down to a waterfal. We lingered too long and had to climb back up at the hottest time of day and we had forgotten to bring our water bottles.
That night we met a couple on holiday from one of the mines, lovely people but he kept replacing my cocktails before I had finished and I believing in waste not want not kept drinking, I am usually a very infrequent drinker.
Next day I felt like I was going to die, had heart palpitations, fever, migraine and an asthma attack all at once. We flew to bali and called the doctor our Sanur Hotel recommended, he arrived asked me what was wrong, opened his black bag, opened various bottles of pills and counted out so many of each into little envelopes, told me what to take and when, charged $US80 and left.
I didn't improve and two days later we arranged for an early departure. I went off to my doctor at home taking my Bali pills with me. I had been given an antibiotic that was not being prescribed any more due to side effects, a blood pressure medication, two pills that my doctor didn't have any info on and a pill for menstrual pain.
My doctor's diagnosis was severe dehydration and heat stroke.
We laugh about this now but realise that it could have become very serious and we are now more careful when planning any activities in the heat, water and hats are a necessity.
I would certainly be requesting the blood test as you do, lol.
