There are a heap of things to do in Bali - even with your Mum !!!
Unless you are used to driving in Asian countries I would hire a driver and car for the day. Sanur is Okay during the day and there are a few bars at night with live bands but Kuta is the "Action end of the island" Its about 20 mins in peak hour traffic from Sanur and well worth a visit.
Be warned though - If your herbal Tea is what I think you are asking about - forget it. Unless you want to run the risk of a 10 year stay on the island with free rice and a view of some barbed wire and your mum taking up 2 seats on the way home.
