Of course booze kills but as I said check the stats for death from smoking viz alcohol related deaths. They dwarf in comparison. A little alcohol may even be beneficial but no amount of tobacco is. Most Australian restaurants are now smoke free for your info unlike in the UK. Prohibition of alcohol did not work but making all enclosed public places smoke free sure will help. See the example of California and falling smoking rates there.
