I haven't been there in a year, but I find it dirty onthe beach. The sand isn't really black, but grey, and it just isn't beautiful. Also there are hawkers on the beach itself, so there is no peace there. The town is not impressive and snorkling there is not good either.
Amed, Lipah in particular is beautiful but very quiet. The beaches are really black sand and the snorkeling is fantastic. Lots has been said about Candi Dasa's lack of beach, but I like it there. Remote Pemuteran is also Idylic and the snorkling nearby in the park is the best on Bali. With all the great choices on the North I would give Lovina a miss
