Hi John,
I have had Bali belly just once out of many trips. It was very nasty and lasted a week! I saw a dr who gave me medication. Travel insurance is worth the money!! minor tummy upsets can be helped with immodium or pepto bismol but if you have bali belly you'll know it and you'll need to see a doctor for medication. All the hotels can refer you to a doctor.
But don't be paranoid about it!! I've been to bali many MANY times and have only been sick that once- and i'm not overly cautious I think the best advice is-
-keep your hands clean and away from your mouth
-eat Indonesian food like nasi goreng, bakmi goreng (in my opinion the people who get sick are the people who order food foreign to bali)
-eat at popular places
you'll be right mate!
