Hi Lisa

BIMC are probably the best on the island. But bear in mind they are an emergency service only, and do not have the experiance of complex cases. The Doctors are not western as has been confirmed before, some nursing staff are.

For straight forward emergency treatment, (on the battlefield so to speak) they are OK, but tend to go overboard sometimes and put the fear of God into you as they lack experiance. They consult when required with the hospital in Denpasar, which is about 25 years behind the West. Not there fault, it is a poor country.

Have you been to Bali before? Is your sons condition affected by the humidity? I do not like putting the dampers on, but if there is a reasonable chance your son may have problems, think again.

If you do go, make sure your insurance knows about your sons condition, this is critical as an air amblance to Singapore will not be cheap, and the insurance will try anything to avoid paying. If it is between a hospital in Denpasar or flying to Singapore, will your insurance pay.

BMIC 0361 761 263

Ausi Consulate recommended Dr Conny. 0361 288 128

Dr Tham Meng Ket at the Mt Elisibeth Hospital in Singapore is an expert on lungs. If you are to be ill thats the place to be, with insurance of course

Rita in Singapore at the Medical referal Centre may arrange appointment. from Bali (001 65 755 200) BMIC have the details.

If you have cause to go to the BMIC, tell the Lady Director who saw my late wife last Xmas. It was not fluid on the lung as they said last Xmas, following consultation with the Denpasar hospital, but just the after affects of radiation treatment. They wanted to send her to Denpasar hospital to operate. Thank God we did not panic and flew to Singapore instead.

Either way, don't worry be happy as the say.

Pommie
