thought Id post about some of the restaurants we fed at during our August visit.
Bagus Pub (Poppies II) - DON"T EAT THERE!!! The food was ordinary and we spent our whole meal listening to one of the staff (who had come and parked himself at our table) try and pursuade us to use him to drive us around bali. We shovelled and bolted!
Kori's (Poppies II) - MY FAVOURITE!! The food was awesome, the service great and the setting divine!!!! Don't miss it.
Poppies (Poppies Lane)- A Bali favourite. Busy at nite but so well set out that you don't notice. Great food.
Goes Art Bar & Restaurant (Jl Legian) - Best place we found for breakfast. Cheap as chips (we paid about $4aus for a full breakfast). Tea was good, eggs cooked right.
Aquarius Bar & Restaurant (Jl Legian) - Good place for Dinner. Huge selection, reasonably priced. The satays are to die for. Ate there a few times.
Kuta Seaview Restaurant - the restaurant attached to the KS hotel is horrible. Food was very ordinary, the service crap and they were less then keen to part with our change (about $20 aus).
Restaurant directly opposite Aquarius Bar - can't remember its name but its attached to a hotel. Had breakfast there. Cheap enough but the tea was like used dish water and the rest very ordinary. On the +ve they made great banana pancakes.
Kopi Pot - good food. a bit more expensive then others around, but reasonable.
Italian restaurant near to Legian Matahari - good food. huge restaurant and good service. Although our waiter was a bit pushy about getting us to come to a themed nite they were having there. Was a bit more expensive then others.
Raja's (next to New Bounty, on the corner) - good food, huge serves, cheap. The only -ve is that I ordered a iced chocolate and got a hot chocolate. When the waitress checked our order she realised she was wrong, took it back to the bar and proceeded to empty it into a tall glass with heaps of ice! Well, I guess its cold now .....
Macaroni (Jl Legian) - never got to eat there! We went in at 11 am for brunch and they wouldn't let us stay as male other half only had board shorts on (no shirt). Wasnt impressed - given how open the restaurant is and we were practically sitting on the street. And it was 11am!!!!!!
Sharkies (Jimbaran Bay) - good food, great setting. The starters salad was a bit dodgy - it was still frozen!!!!! Service was a little slow.
Also ate at a place in Jl Legian opposite new bounty that made pizza in a wood fired oven. This was pretty good. Can't remember its name but its decked out in an American Indian theme.

Other things of interest:
Used Sobek Rafting for white water rafting. Really good. Better then Bali Adventure who id done it with before. Awesome setting, great restaurant - food was great!
Bali hai ocean rafting - a good trip. good snorkeling and interesting learning about the seaweed harvesting. a bit overpriced I thought, and it would have been nice to have at least had a bottle of water thrown in given that it was a whole day trip and it did cost us about $120 aus ea. the ocean rafting itself is quite fun.
Blue Bird taxis - found them good with their metered trips. Although was thoroughly pi**ed off when we grabbed one from the taxi stand outside hardrock hotel who tried to barter a fixed price with us back to our hotel. When we told him no way use your meter he told us to get out.

I'm sure there's more, I'll post later.
