The way our time share works is we paid an upfront fee of around
AU$14,000.00 which sounds like a lot of money. However, this gives
you 25 years of accomodation, not only at the resort you buy from, but many, many resorts around the world. Any country, all are 5+ Star hotels and resorts. The extra fee that you must pay each year is a maintenence fee of around AU$400.00.
You are entitled to one free week stay per year. So if you don't go for two years, you can stay for two weeks, absolutely free. If however you only have one free week, and you would like to stay for 4, all you have to pay is between $105 and $210 per week (depending on how many people will be staying.) This is peanuts considering that you would pay that amount per night if you didn't own the time share.
And I have found it extreamly easy to book accomodation through our home resort, which also offers airport transfers. Just tell them your flight details and they will be waiting out the front. Our flight was actually runnig about 2 hours late, but the guy was still waiting out the front for us!
So, we have had no trouble and I would recommend it to anyone. Just make sure you understand and agree with all the fine print.
