Cookie, we stayed in Sanur, which never seems too crowded to me. But our one excursion into Kuta landed us in the crowds ... not just Australians on school hols either ... many Indonesian families with their kids too, as their hols coincide with Aus more or less.
We traipsed about with our 3yr old and the 'crowd' in Sanur and the rest of Bali wasn't a prob.
