As long as everything is conducted safely, I say good luck to him. I don't actually understand what the big deal about it is. Can you actually raise a valid argument as to why safe sex with a prostitute is bad?
You COULD say, it is exploiting the woman (or man) because they don't actually want to do it - but hey, I don't actually LIKE turning up to work either. However, he/she probably receives (for Bali) what is a really good wage. Secondly, possibly she doesn't even mind doing it. I imagine she MIGHT get SOME satisfaction out of it.
I have never required the services of a prostitute, and I don't think I ever will. But if someone chooses to do so, and it harms no one, well... go for it.
You say you are 'less than charmed'... but that is exactly the point he was trying to make. He doesn't want to TRY charming ladies who he doesn't really care for, obviously, he WOULD try charming a lady he DID care for. It is a sexual urge pure and simple.
