for your friend, what a dreadful thing to have happen, I would have thought though that the golden rule was never leave anything in a vehicle even if it is locked up - I understand diving gear is quite heavy and bulky but I guess it would have been safer. Unfortunately the world has made us wary of everyone, what ever country, shame about the so called "police" though!!
