it may interest forumites that Goria and Zontius have joined their diverse personalities and motivation of caring,not to forget a certain madness,in a two and a half year program to bring about a joint vision of The Bali Crisis Care Centre,which will become a legal registered health welfare center, its birth being the wonderful dedication of Gloria, and her work in Anturan.Zontius has the role of co-ordinator of this project to bring credibility and accountability to the wonderful people who are working so hard to keep the current clinic alive, and who are striving so strongly to provide Gloria with the most urgent needs she has, to cope with her work load, with the fact that the clinic may have to close due to termination of its lease, and the urgent need of medication for patients. The pending Lovina festival in particular is the greatest hope of meeting the most urgent requirements, which are securing the clinic or an alternative site, to provide Gloria a space to be private from the never ending patient demands on her time.Also it is hoped that funds may be put aside to guarantee the basic bills of phone and power. At present it is a difficult decision to decide between lives and telephone Bills,worse to decide who will not receive the life support,and a nightmare to then have that person die in her arms. Nobody on this planet should have to carry that burden alone. And yet she does on top of the work load and the rallying around to find support and basic day to day funds. So our attention is on these, to stabilize and reduce the pressures of those daily burdens.The dream and determination behind the fundraiser is to go a step beyond that, to provide transport that will double as a mobile clinic, to meet the pleading requests of other villages for Gloria to find a way to visit them once a week.I urge you to find a way to assist on any level to contribute to this fundraiser for the clinic to survive its current situation,and in doing so create the impetus to move it on over the next couple of years to be a valuable and crucial service to those who simply so often can not afford to live, who do not have access to the very health protection that is free and which we insist upon in our own countries to give our children a basic chance. The donations also provide the ability to halt the rapid spread of diseases such as TB which at present has reached epidemic proportions. Yes the needs seem endless,but there is courage,vision,compassion and a determination here that will never die, and in fact is building into a wonderful energy that touches everbody who visits.The birth of this energy and its growth will be responsible for greater things.
The greater vision and program, having survived the current crisis is to work towards a large center with sub-branches, where Gloria will train and set into place the system that has already touched so many lives in poor rural Bali.This will free her to be able to commit her time to what she does best,with the basic daily stress of survival having being overcome.At present there have been a number of emails from around the world from people willing to put their energies into raising money for this greater vision, and with it carries the air that this has passed beyond the maybe stage and is destined to become a reality.Shortly we shall be assembling a committee dedicated to the cause.My own plans will be to co- ordinate the development utilising my background in foreign investment into Indonesia,marketing,a consultant to failing companies,architect,coupled to my known work on the forum in arranging sponsorships between forumites and local people in need.A mention that my main work of 20 yrs has been in the field of the terminally ill and suicidal teenagers.Now I understand why I learned those diverse skills as I am sure they will be all called upon! The Crisis Care center is becoming of such interest,and especially as it puts people in touch with the realities of the non-touristed Bali, that there will soon be organised visits/tours to visit the people Gloria climbs mountains to treat.
So put on your marching boots,fill your suitcases before you come to Bali,with anything else that you can disgard to GLoria,fill up your pockets with cash,bring your friends and be responsible for not only saving Gloria,but for the birth of something far greater.This forum has produced amazing results in its caring attitude to people,our requests for help and compassion have always been met, for example the recent assistance to save the cancer boy Arif's life which it seems it surely will. I shall post more on Arif's progress in a few days, and once again bow down in humble respect to your generosity and compassion, which as an unexpected gift has given something to me also- the replenished compassion that I know will bring assistance to many more,and the motivation and commitment to this wonderful and unique cause.
