Coincedentally, just returned from 3 nights Oberoi and 4 NIghts Pita Maha. Both really great hotels. Depends what you are looking for though. Both excellent service, friendly attentive staff. VERY QUIET.
Prices within Oberoi quite steep for Food and Beverage, Spa etc as they are in USD and we are paying Aussie $$. But went just down the road to La Lucciola Restaurant for Breakfast and Dinner a couple of times and Bodyworks II Spa just opened there too. Both walkinbg distance to the Oberoi.
Pita Maha not quite as expensive as Oberoi but still a bit much when paying Aussie. Most clients were Japanese and kept to themselves. Great restaurant Indus next door and spectacular at breakfast or lunch for the views. If you have any specific questions just post them up and I am happy to answer them : )
