Just back from a fantastic two week holiday in Bali.
As a Belgian couple preparing a holiday trip to Bali, we searched the internet and found the Bali Travel forum to be a gold mine for travellers intending to go there.
The forum contributed greatly in making our holiday work. Information about hotels, beaches, restaurants was on the whole accurate and truthfull. Also on the forum there were posts about drivers and a discussion going on about a guy Magnum. Intrigued about this , we decided to give him a try.
The only thing we can say is : in the end we hired him for 6 days and never had anything to complain about: he drove us around safely, went where ever we wanted to go, never pushed any shops, many times indicated interesting places to visit while under way . We asked him to show us the real Bali and he did: we saw (real) temple ceremonies , cock fights, beautiful rice terasses and came in little known villages where we never would have come without him. He is polite, drives carefully, his price is right and keeps his appointments on time. Usually starting at 9 ,we some days came back to the hotel around 18.30. Never any complaint about longer hours. We invited him to take lunch with us but he always refused, I had to push him hard to once accept a drink with us.
By the way , as he was already booked on some days, we also hired drivers via the hotel, which were ok, but we came to prefer Magnum.
