In the main most people import either clothing or small novelty type
goods. By that I mean things like windchimes, mobiles ( hang from ceiling ), wooden fishes, dream catchers etc etc.
These are low cost but high end revenue in terms of profit margin.
Most people I deal with here in Australia either operate weekend stalls at markets of sell them thru "Tupperware" type nights.
In the main most of these come in by airfreight. With wooden items you
will be up fumigation charges either in Bali or here in Australia as well as handling and clearance charges.
If you need indicative costs look in the yellow pages here in Australia for "air freight forwarders" who will be able to give rates
for airfreight. On the main road between Ngurah Rai and Sanur there are also many offices of forwarders who can help you.
Also just about every shop you buy these goods from will be able to point you to similar people.
For furniture you would have to come in by sea to be cost effective
and unless you are going to go into it in a big way I would not recommend bringing in these items.
My suggestion to people is bring in a small shipment and see how it goes and if you good results then go for bigger shipments.
