The type of smile expresses the anger for an Indonesian, and indicates the degree of anger, which can be read with practice. The anger IS expressed.Westerners for example can give a cold look which speaks a thousand words and is very effective. In my experience the Indonesian may not verbally express anger, but they do not forget, and subtle actions at a later date, sometimes through a third person, creates a clear manifestation of that anger, often more effective and revengeful than the western style outburst, because it's been quietly carried inside for some time.
