Thought I'd add alittle about the teeth filing ceremony in Bali....to give you a cultural background to where your boyfriend is coming from...so you can gain a better understanding of the cultral differances you two have. I found it all too interesting....and it gave me personally a better understanding too of where my boyfriend at the time was coming from. An important new phase is human life is the age of puberty. Both girls and boys dressed in ceremonial clothes have to undergo the teeth file ceremony. It is a very painful ceremony as six front teeth in the upper jaw are filed. In this way the boy or girl is released from six evils: anger, greed, jealousy, dipsomania, stupidity and unbridled lust. After the teeth file ceremony he or she belongs to the grown up people, with all the rights and duties and is ready to marry.
