I am pretty sure I am the friend that Bev is talking about.
Last tuesday I was Asked if I could assist an Australian company with some work in Bali regarding my business there. This was asked of me at 12 noon Melbourne time. I rang my agent straight away and they had me on the Ansett flight at 5 p.m. I arrived in Bali at 8.30 Bali time Tuesday night, and caught up with Bev and her husband. Did the work for the next day and half and then flew out home on a garuda flight Thursday night.
I went to Bali worked and back in Melbourne in about 48 hours.......It can be done. However the flight back was a Garuda flight so I had to pay a premium for a less than 4 day stay and I had one of those tickets that was open allowing me to jump on any plane I like out of Denpasar. The total cost was about $1250 AUD. So you most certainly can do it. But it is not the cheapest option but handy to know if you have to go immediately.
