There's no reason for not being proud of where you're from. If people are narrow-minded enough to base their opinion of you depending on where you're from, then their opinion isn't worth much, now is it?
If however you feel that you may be in a situation where you HAVE TO state your nationality, and that this may result in personal physical danger, then don't.
