I know you will be sceptical about what I am going to say, but believe me, it is true. Over the last 15 years, the dog population in Bali has been cut back by at least one if not two orders of magnitude (10 - 100) Most likely, you would have noticed that the Bali dogs do not shine by their intelligence (Except, I am told, but not yet convinced, the "Kintamani" dogs) Over the same length of time, the huge increase in the island traffic has taken care of most of them. This is Darwinism at its best. And if sometime I catch myself believing in reincarnation, I would hope my karma is good enough so I would not be reborn as a dog in Bali or Benares.
