My advice is US$. I found $ the more readily quoted and accepted hard currency. In my experience restaurant/hotel bills (even in the smallest of establishments) are always presented in Rps and in US$ equivalent as a matter of form. Stg will be accepted but you have to ask them to convert and you run the risk of not getting the most favourable rate. I travelled from Ireland in September and brought sterling only - it was a nightmare. I would forget Rps.
