Dear Rosso,
Yes, I can give you a first hand report on the Bungai Permai. It is located in a sleepy little village just north of Ubud. The village is called Bunutan and it is just above the Kupa Kupa Barong resort.
It is very new, maybe now a little over a year old. It is run by a Dutchman named Theo and his Indonesian wife, Thea. They are wonderful hosts. The hotel is small...only eleven rooms, but it is a magnificent value for the money. A single is only U.S. 25 and a double 35 per night and this is ALL inclusive...taxes and a nice breakfast. The hotel is situated in a similar arrangement to Kupa Kupa Barong in that it overlooks a beautiful river gorge and Mt. Agung. The views are spectacular!
They have a great swimming pool and a very nice restaurant. What more can I say? I've been to Bali many times before and never found a better place for close to these rates in the Ubud area.
They have a booking agent whose name is Jaya. No advance deposit is required for a booking...NONE! All one needs to do is e-mail Mr. Jaya and he will take care of the rest. His e-mail address is
jayaagung@yahoo.com I was last there this past September and will be there again in March of 1999. I am already booked again and can't wait to get back!
