Returned Monday 28th Dec from a 10 day stay in Bali in Tuban.
If you are wanting a holiday out of the way of the all the action then I suggest the Patra Jasa in Tuban, it is great if you have small kids, say up to the age of 12/13. The rooms are large and well appointed with all the usual things you would need. We travelled most daus into either Legion or Kuta the hotel arranged a driver which cost R10,000 to anywhere in Kuta and R15,000 to Legion. Return jurneys were mostly with the Taxi Co(Light Blue or "Bali Taxi" as the usually always use the meter and were around half the price of any other mode of transport. My advise is not to change you money in the streets either us the larger Banks or the money changer at Matarahi's Department store in Kuta. Good rates and you dont get ripped off.
Good restaurant in Legion for us was the Puri Dayu and Padma street
quality and prices are what you can get here. We travelled six years ago and nothing has changed.
Average rate while we were there was AUD$1=RUP4600 best rates were nearly always with cash.
