I have come across a Canadian's first hand account of how on December 17, 1998 he stumbled across "an armed conflict" in the hills above Lovina. According to him Habibie forces,pro-Megawati forces, the local police and the military were involved. He apparently arrived in time to see the aftermath, including 3 dead and 17 injured. I cannot confirm any of this and I do believe he may have been in an area where he was not welcome, but I would appreciate any insight.
